Using Black History Month to shine the spotlight on outstanding YouTube creators
To mark Black History Month 2016 on YouTube we wanted to focus on the work of some of the creators of today. Without ignoring the past we wanted to create a moment that celebrated what they are doing to define culture on the internet in their own unique ways and inspire the next generation of artists, activists and creators. The message was simple - history is yours to write.
Working with established artists, archive footage and creators from across YouTube we collaborated with 1stAveMachine in New York to pull together an inspiring story that formed a centrepiece for YouTube's spotlight moment in February, and was viewed over 400,000 times online.
