Giving refugees a platform
There are over 65 million displaced people around the world. For World Refugee Day 2017, we worked with the International Rescue Committee and YouTube to help tell the stories of the people behind the crisis.
Seven YouTube creators were invited by the IRC to get to know refugees around the world. Creators were paired with a person that would resonate with their audience. Mama Bee of the Eh Bees Family channel met Amira, a Syrian mother in Jordan; Tyler Oakley met Sharifa, a woman forced to leave Uganda because of her sexuality; and asapSCIENCE met staff and residents at Kara Tepe camp in Lesvos, to learn "How to Build a Refugee Camp".
Flying Object developed the strategic and creative direction for the campaign, facilitated the production of eight videos in seven countries, designed and produced social assets, and produced/directed the project's launch video.
